Movember!

Hey Mom! I’m in the news!

On October 30th I lost my job. Since then I've been feeling all the feels and navigating the full breadth of fear/worry that follows an unexpected transition.

That night in the shower I washed my face and felt the scruff, but instead of thinking "hmmm... I should shave," this thought went through my mind: "What am I wallowing? How can I shift my focus from myself to others?' Honestly, that even surprised me, because I can wallow with the best of them.

So instead of shaving my face bare, I left a mustache (well, “mustache”), and signed up for Movember.

I was happy to find one of the causes I can support is mental health and suicide prevention, because it's very close to my heart. I was first diagnosed with depression in 2006, and wow, has that been a journey. In my darkest moments I wasn't sure I would survive. And I'm definitely not alone. I'm doing well now, but others aren't, so let's raise some money to fund suicide prevention initiatives for men!

This November I'll be roadtripping from Denver, Colorado to Anaheim, CA to spend Thanksgiving with my family for the first time in almost a decade. I'll plaster my car with Movember fun, asking people who see me on the road to donate $5 toward the Movember organization. If that's you, THANK YOU! Please comment and let us know where you're from!

My pup Walter and I will post our adventures on our socials: @claytonrlott and @walter_the_wonder_puppy on Instagram.

Ready to help me turn the loss of my job into hope for someone struggling with dark thoughts? LET'S DO IT!
